Introduction & Purpose
Energy touches every part of life. As a leader in clean energy, Avantus understands the global impact of our actions and is dedicated to creating lasting value for both people and the planet. Our Sustainability Policy defines our core commitments and provides a comprehensive framework that embeds environmental, social, and governance principles across our operations.
Scope and Relevance
Avantus' sustainability priorities are closely aligned with the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (“SDGs”) and guided by a materiality assessment informed by stakeholder input and impact analysis. We use leading frameworks like the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (“SASB”), Global Reporting Initiative (“GRI”), the Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (“TNFD”), the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (“TCFD”), and investor surveys to shape our key sustainability performance indicators and ensure comprehensive, transparent reporting.
United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals
Our mission is to responsibly develop and build clean energy solutions that reliably meet growing energy demand. Through our utility-scale solar and energy storage portfolio, we aim to make a meaningful contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly seven where clean, resilient power has the greatest impact, including affordable energy, climate action, and sustainable communities.

Sustainability Commitments
Avantus developed its sustainability commitments based on six material topics identified as most relevant to our business and stakeholders: Business Ethics, Climate Change, Employee Engagement, Safety, Supply Chain, and Responsible Project Development, which includes stakeholder engagement and environmental management.
Business Ethics
Avantus is committed to conducting business honestly and ethically. We strive to uphold a reputation for fairness, respect, integrity, responsibility, and sound judgment—and we expect the same from all leaders, employees, suppliers, and contractors.
The Avantus Employee Handbook outlines our policies on key business ethics topics, including ethical conduct, conflicts of interest, fair competition, political activities, and self-disclosure of ethical concerns.
To ensure consistent ethical standards across our operations, the Avantus Vendor Code of Conduct sets clear expectations for consultants, contractors, service providers, and suppliers. We expect all Vendors and their affiliates to act in accordance with these principles as a condition of doing business with us.
Climate
Climate change mitigation is central to our business. Each project is assessed for its potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to a clean energy economy. Separately, we evaluate exposure to physical climate risks—such as flooding, earthquakes, extreme heat, wind, and wildfires—to inform site selection, project design, and long-term resilience strategies.
Avantus also identifies and quantifies material Scope 1, 2, and 3 emission sources across our general business activities and projects under Avantus’ operational control. This data supports benchmarking efforts and informs potential emissions reduction planning.
Employee Engagement
We foster a culture of ownership and collaboration, where every team member helps drive our mission and shared success. Our Broad-Based Ownership Plan gives all employees equity in the company, at no personal cost, with semiannual Owners Meetings that openly share company performance and financials. We regularly gather input through an Annual Employee Engagement & Ownership Survey and quarterly Pulse Surveys, using feedback to improve culture, ways of working and professional growth.
We support professional development with training, mentorship, and educational stipends. Employees have multiple feedback channels, both directly and anonymously, to share ideas and drive positive change. Company-wide and team face-to-face meetings strengthen personal connection and collaboration, reinforce our mission and recognize achievements.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION
Diversity has been core to our company strategy from day one. We strive to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives. Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy formalizes our commitment to promoting fairness, celebrating differences, and ensuring equal opportunity for all.
Responsible Project Development
Responsible project development is foundational to how we work, guiding our approach to environmental stewardship, stakeholder engagement, and long-term value creation. Avantus is committed to reflecting local priorities, minimizing impacts, and delivering meaningful benefits, including high-quality jobs and local economic growth.
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
At Avantus, our commitment to sustainability starts with deep respect for biodiversity and ecosystem preservation. We prioritize environmental protection at every stage of development through rigorous due diligence, permitting, and site selection processes.
During early siting, we conduct detailed environmental impact analyses and apply risk management strategies to minimize impacts to sensitive species, habitats, and ecosystems. We work closely with environmental non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and government wildlife agencies to implement meaningful biodiversity conservation measures and mitigation strategies that meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
Every Avantus project in construction or operations follows a tailored environmental management plan that addresses site-specific ecological priorities and sustainability goals. We monitor and manage water usage throughout construction, using strategies that reduce consumption and promote efficient resource use. Waste is tracked on-site, and we partner with local contractors to divert materials from landfills through recycling whenever feasible.
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
Avantus is committed to transparency and meaningful collaboration with stakeholders. We prioritize open, ongoing dialogue built on trust, cooperation, and mutual understanding—and we adapt our approach as community needs evolve.
Our Stakeholder Engagement Framework identifies our stakeholders' interests and concerns early in project development, helping to shape proactive engagement plans and guide siting and design decisions. It outlines clear grievance processes and supports a range of locally tailored activities—such as open houses, meetings, site tours, and donations—to build trust and deliver lasting community benefits.
We also communicate with Tribal Nations across the United States, aligning with the principles of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) for activities that may affect Indigenous lands.
Supply Chain
Avantus is committed to upholding the highest labor and human rights standards across our operations and supply chain. We recognize the risks associated with global sourcing of solar and battery energy storage systems and are proactive in mitigating labor-related issues at project sites and throughout our procurement process.
We unequivocally oppose forced labor, child labor, discrimination, and harassment in all forms. Our approach is grounded in internationally recognized frameworks, including the International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization (ILO) standards. We embed these principles into our internal policies and our Vendor Code of Conduct, which outlines expectations for suppliers and encourages alignment across their own supply chains. Avantus may also request participation in audits, site visits, or reporting to support transparency and continuous improvement.
Safety
At Avantus, protecting the well-being and personal health of our team, contractors, subcontractors, and community members is a top priority. Our safety culture focuses on preventing incidents across all settings—from offices to project sites to company events.
Our Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), along with our Employee Handbook and Vendor Code of Conduct, provide clear guidelines for maintaining high safety standards. The IIPP empowers employees to proactively identify, assess, and address workplace hazards.
On project sites, safety begins with selecting top-tier Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors with proven safety records. We collaborate closely with EPC partners to implement systematic safety protocols, including project-specific safety plans, mandatory training for all visitors and subcontractors, and daily job hazard analyses.
Governance
Avantus upholds a strong governance framework that underpins our business operations and sustainability commitments. Our structure emphasizes transparency, accountability, regulatory compliance, risk management, and responsible leadership—beginning with our Board of Directors and extending throughout the organization.
The Avantus Board of Directors plays a central role in guiding our sustainability strategy. The Board contributes to our materiality assessment, approves performance targets, and evaluates progress quarterly to ensure alignment with our mission, values, and business plan. To strengthen accountability, progress on these targets is tied to management evaluations and compensation.
Our sustainability commitments are reviewed annually—or when material changes occur—and informed by performance data, industry benchmarks, and evolving stakeholder expectations.
