Today, 8minute Solar Energy Founder and CEO Dr. Tom Buttgenbach joined SEIA and the clean energy industry in expressing disappointment for the Supreme Court’s decision on West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency—a decision that will ultimately hinder the ability of the EPA to regulate harmful greenhouse gas emissions. Dr. Buttgenbach stressed the impact that this decision would have on the health of the environment and the American people, as well the country’s progress toward a clean energy economy.

“Today’s Supreme Court decision in West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) undermines the EPA’s ability to regulate emissions that are harmful to the environment and the American people, and hinders the clean energy momentum that is so urgently needed to address the climate crisis and power our economy. GHG emissions have clear health and economic effects that a well-functioning market should account for. Stripping the agency of this power is a major setback to our health and economy. Despite this, 8minute remains steadfast in our commitment to advancing a clean energy future by continuing to provide reliable, low-cost and emissions-free energy to millions of Americans.”
